“Have you experienced a stressful event and as a result are finding it difficult to function in your day-to-day activities? Are you having difficulty concentrating, sleeping, and/or forming healthy relationships? As a trauma-informed counselor, I have successfully treated people by helping them to identify the source of their struggles; thereby empowering them to advance in life. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience treating children, teens, and young adults who have experienced incidences of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. I have been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. I typically use a cognitive approach to treatment including interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and EMDR.
When in treatment, clients are provided a relaxing, nonjudgmental space to begin challenging the thoughts and beliefs behind their specific presenting concerns. My approach is flexible; I revise the counseling approach as needed per client.
My experience is in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), acute stress disorders, adjustment disorder, phobias, self-esteem related issues, and self-harm behaviors. My experience has shown me that a recurring concern after a trauma can be a loss of feeling safe. Much of my approach is aimed at helping clients experience that sense of safety once again.
A key to success in therapy is finding a therapist with whom you feel connected. My approach is to get to know you and allow you to know me so we can work through some of life’s toughest issues as a team.
Life will always have difficult times. By learning to use tools to cope with life’s ups and downs, one can lead a successful and potentially peaceful lifestyle. I would like to help you become comfortable in your life. I am available for telehealth or in-person, individual sessions.
