Hello, my name is Carina, and I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a bilingual therapist who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults. This passion has led me to work with empowering children and adolescents at a domestic violence shelter and helped provide and create a curriculum for theraplay-based groups. In private practice, I have experience with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, PTSD/trauma, grief, stress, families, substance use, and behavioral related concerns. I believe that the therapeutic relationship and meeting your child where they are developmentally are key components in treatment.
As a therapist, I use an integrated approach where I collaborate and individualize each counseling style with the needs of your child, not limited to play therapy, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, trauma-focused, attachment-based interventions, and more. My desire is to help reach your child’s goals while also consulting with you, the parent, and build a collaborative relationship to meet your child’s needs and provide a safe and caring treatment environment to work towards their mental health. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with your family.
