Carina Rivera

MA, LMHC

Hello, my name is Carina Rivera, and I am a bilingual therapist who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults overcome mental health challenges. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and my experience includes empowering children and adolescents at a domestic violence shelter and creating a curriculum for theraplay-based groups.

During private practice, I have worked with clients facing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, PTSD/trauma, grief, stress, families, substance use, and behavioral concerns. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients is crucial to effective treatment, and I meet each individual where they are developmental. I use an integrated approach that includes play therapy, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, trauma-focused therapy, attachment-based interventions, and more, tailored to each client’s needs.

As a therapist, I also work closely with parents, building a collaborative relationship to support the child’s mental health needs. My goal is to help your child achieve their goals and overcome mental health challenges, creating a safe and caring treatment environment for their growth and well-being. I look forward to the opportunity to work with your family and support your child on their journey toward better mental health.
