Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about SUD Treatment

What is Substance Use Disorders Treatment?

Substance Use Disorders Treatment is a structured therapeutic program designed to help individuals reduce or eliminate harmful substance use through psychological, behavioral, and motivational approaches that support lasting recovery.
SUD treatment is provided by licensed therapists and counselors with specialized training in addiction, including LMHCs, LCSWs, and Certified Addiction Professionals (CAPs). A psychiatrist may also be involved for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
We treat alcohol use disorder, opioid use disorder, cannabis use disorder, stimulant use disorder, prescription medication misuse, and co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Treatment helps you develop healthier coping strategies, repair strained relationships, regain control of daily functioning, and build a foundation for a meaningful, substance-free life — while addressing the emotional drivers that sustain use.
Sessions may include Motivational Interviewing, identifying and challenging thought patterns related to substance use, building coping and refusal skills, relapse prevention planning, and exploring underlying emotional or trauma-related concerns.
You can expect a nonjudgmental, supportive environment. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to set goals, track progress, and adjust the treatment plan to fit your evolving needs throughout recovery.
Most clients benefit from 12 to 24 sessions, though treatment length depends on severity of use, co-occurring conditions, and individual progress. Ongoing support and check-in sessions are also available after the primary program.
Our outpatient program is appropriate for individuals with mild to moderate substance use disorders. Those requiring medical detox or more intensive support may need a higher level of care first, and we can assist with referrals.
