I have experience counseling individuals and couples through challenging times, and those dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, career, life-stage, and relationship concerns.
My goal is to help you make space for your own true thoughts and feelings, and to assist as you clarify how you want to move forward in life based on what is really important to you and what you value. My primary method for treatment is known as Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), known as a “third wave” cognitive behavioral approach. Rather than trying to push away your negative thoughts, an effort that does not usually work, I help you change your relationship with those thoughts, to lessen their power and control over your daily life. I encourage you to speak about any topic on your mind, including ones that may feel awkward or controversial. That is how you start to feel better.
I come from a ministry background, so I am equipped to help you if you want to integrate any of your religious or spiritual concerns into your counseling. My focus is to create a non-judgmental setting where you can talk freely about what you care most about in your life.
